Cork Camogie: Draws made for minor matches as Tom Linehan appointed new inter-county manager

The draws for the quarter and semi-finals of the SE Systems Minor Camogie Championship were made recently. 

In Premier Minor, Newtownshandrum will play Éire Óg, with the winners meeting Inniscarra. Sliabh Rua will meet Aghabullogue, with the winners playing Douglas.

In Premier Minor 2, St Catherine’s play Blarney, Bishopstown will meet Kilbrittain/Timoleague, Ballyhea meet Midleton and Killeagh face St Finbarr's.

In Minor A, Carrigaline meet Ballygarvan, with the winner meeting the winner of the Milford versus Newcestown game. Glen Rovers will play Charleville, with the winner meeting Banteer or Courcey Rovers.

In Minor B, Fermoy and Castlemartyr meet with the winners playing Bandon, Mallow will play Dungourney, with the winners meeting Valley Rovers.

In Minor C, Cobh will play Rockbán, the winners will play Tracton, Castlelyons will play Watergrashill, with the winners meeting St Vincent’s.

CORK'S NEW MINOR MANAGER 

Cork Camogie, at a recent county board meeting, ratified the appointment of Tom Lenihan from the Ballinora club as the new Cork minor camogie manager for 2027.

Tom brings a wealth of experience to the role with over 20 years of coaching and team-management experience across club, divisional, county and third-level teams within camogie and the GAA.

His involvement with Cork Camogie is extensive, and over a number of years he has worked with Cork teams at U14, U15, U16, and U17 development level, as well as at minor level, whilst he was also involved the Cork junior team. 

Tom has also held a range of coaching and management roles outside the county setup, including with Ballinora at club level, Muskerry at divisional level, and Munster Technological University camogie and hurling teams at third level. 

During this time, he has been involved with success at county, provincial, All-Ireland and third-level competitions.

In announcing the appointments cork Camogie said the following.

“Player development has been a central focus throughout Tom’s coaching career. 

"His approach places an emphasis on recognising the individual strengths and development needs of each player, while creating a united, competitive and positive team environment. 

"He also brings experience of leading and managing large playing groups of more than 50 players. 

"Communication and collaboration are important elements of his management approach, with an emphasis on establishing clear standards, building alignment across the playing and management groups, and creating an environment in which players are supported and challenged to improve. 

"With more than two decades of coaching experience and a deep knowledge of Cork’s underage structures, Tom takes on the role with a clear focus on building on the strong foundations already in place within Cork Camogie and creating a high-performance environment in which players can strive to reach their potential. 

"Cork Camogie wishes Tom and his management team and the players every success as they begin preparations for the upcoming minor campaign.” 

His management team have also been announced and ratified.

They are Deirdre Looney, (Millstreet), Conor Desmond, (Sarsfields), Ricky O’Callaghan, (Carrigaline), Michael Murphy, (Ballinora), Ciara Daly, (Killeagh) and with Cliona Cotter as team physio.

The board, in announcing the appointments, also extended its sincere thanks to the outgoing minor management team under the leadership of Maurice O’Sullivan and his team for their commitment, dedication, and contribution to Cork camogie and to the development of the players during their time involved.
