Ballyphehane GAA takes major step forward with new spectator rail fencing project

Ballyphehane GAA has taken a significant stride in its long-term development plans with the launch of its new spectator rail fencing project on the Green at Tramore Road.

It’s a move that marks one of the most important infrastructural milestones in the club’s recent history. The initiative, delivered in partnership with JNC Premier Pitches & Fencing, was formally launched recently, with works expected to commence in the coming weeks.

For a club so deeply rooted in its community, the Green is far more than a playing field. It is the heartbeat and foundation of Ballyphehane GAA, a space that has shaped generations of players, families, volunteers and supporters. 

Securing this project — along with the installation of new goalposts — represents a major moment of progress and pride for everyone connected with the club.

This development is not simply about upgrading facilities. It is a clear investment in the future of Ballyphehane GAA and a statement of intent as the club continues to grow, evolve and strengthen its structures for the decades ahead. 

Ensuring a safe playing environment has become increasingly important, particularly given the pitch’s proximity to busy roads. The new fencing will provide essential protection for players and spectators alike, creating a secure and defined space for training, matches and community activity.

For nearly 70 years, Ballyphehane GAA has been built on the dedication of volunteers, coaches, committee members, players and supporters who have given their time and energy to keep the club moving forward. 

That tradition continues today, with a number of key figures driving this latest project. Among those leading the charge are club stalwarts Paul Mullins, Paul McCarthy, Kieran Devlin, Owen Sweeney and members of the Walsh family — each playing a vital role in planning, coordination and delivery.

Mullins, in particular, embodies the spirit of giving back that has long defined Ballyphehane GAA. Having enjoyed tremendous success and created countless memories as a player, he has transitioned into management and committee work, determined to contribute to the club that has meant so much to him.

“Ballyphehane GAA has given so many people incredible memories over the years,” he said. 

“I’ve been fortunate to experience that first-hand, and now I’m delighted to play a role in helping the club move forward. 

"Hopefully, in years to come, other former players and managers will do the same and continue that tradition of giving back.”
