Avondhu’s reward for navigating the unseeded route is a place in the McCarthy Insurance Group Divisions/Colleges Premier SFC seeded section semi-finals, where they meet Muskerry this evening in Macroom at 7.30pm.
The winners face a rapid turnaround: the final of this seeded section is fixed for Friday against Carbery.
It is a demanding schedule, and whoever emerges this evening will have little time to recover, reset or reshape before going again.
Muskerry have yet to play a competitive game in this competition, while Avondhu arrive battle-hardened after three outings in the unseeded section.

Victories over Seandún, Beara and Imokilly have sharpened their edge at exactly the right time, giving them rhythm, cohesion and a clear sense of identity.
They have spread scores well, defended with structure, and shown the kind of composure that only comes from being tested. Their win over Imokilly, in particular, underlined their upward curve – a performance built on pace, accuracy and a forward unit playing with confidence.
Team selection adds an extra layer of intrigue. Muskerry will hope to have Cork forward Chris Óg Jones available, his presence offering proven scoring power, ball winning ability and a focal point around which their attack can build. Jones’ influence is often decisive in tight games, and his availability would significantly strengthen Muskerry’s hand.
Avondhu, meanwhile, could be boosted by the involvement of Seán Walsh and Cathail O’Mahony, two players whose inter-county experience and athleticism would add leadership and cutting edge to their side.
Walsh’s versatility and O’Mahony’s finishing threat would give Avondhu additional options in key moments, particularly if the game becomes tight. Their availability may ultimately shape the contest as much as form.

Muskerry remain something of an unknown quantity. Without competitive minutes, they must rely on the individual quality available to them. Their challenge is to hit the ground running against an Avondhu side already operating at championship pace.
