Cork head to Limerick on Sunday as they take on Clare in the Munster Ladies Senior B Football Championship final.

Throw-in is at 11.30am at Kilmallock GAA, making it an early start for both sides.

While many will not be happy with the timing it makes sense as it allows supporters of both counties the chance to attend this game and then head to Cork if they wish for the clash of the same two counties in the Munster senior hurling championship at 4pm.

If their group game is anything to go by this will be another close tie as the Rebels go into the final as the only undefeated team in the round robin series.

Cork started off with an impressive win over Kerry, before they had a massive battle with Tipp at Carrigaline.

That second game was one that they had to show all their character as Tipp made them fight all the way to the end, before Cork secured a one-point win.

Clare were next up and this was always going to be a battle. The Banner were favourites, before a ball was kicked, to win this title.

It was another close tie, before Cork managed to win by a point again, 2-8 to 1-10, a win that secure the Rebels' place in the Munster final.

Their final group tie was against Limerick, which ended in a draw, and a reminder to Cork that they can’t take anything for granted on Sunday.

Manager Brian Leamy said they are looking forward to Sunday and the challenge of trying to get the better of Clare again.

“It's great to be in the final, this time last year we only won one game and were beaten by Limerick and Clare,” said Leamy.

“So this year's a bonus for us, we're in bonus territory and hopefully will take one more step on Sunday.

“I think we're improving, and this year shows that the girls have bounced again to get an extra win under our belts to get to a Munster final.

“I only mentioned to the girls that we had no easy game this year. You know, we did get over the line against Kerry, but then we won one by a point, last kick of the game, early against Tipp.

We beat Clare, last kick of the game again, and we drew against Limerick. It's never easy, never easy for us.

"But look, it just shows the character of the girls, and it shows how well they're gelling and they're fighting to the very end, which is a good sign of a team.

“Sunday is going to be a close game. Clare know what we're bringing now, and they'll probably be wanting to come out and right the wrongs of the last game. They probably thought they should have beaten us. But look, we'll fight, and hopefully we will get over the line.”

TALENTED

The Rebels have plenty of talented players and will look to the likes of Amy McDonagh to get a grip around the middle of the pitch and drive her side forward.

Up front Siofra Pattwell and Holly Quirke are more than capable of upsetting any defence.

Cork are captained by Emma Cooney and she will lead by example from full-back.

It will be close but the Rebels will be hoping to end their season on a high on Sunday.
