Cill na Martra and Castlehaven meet this weekend in a fixture that already feels significant in the shape of the McCarthy Insurance Group Division 1 Football League.
The game takes place in Cill na Martra tomorrow at 5pm, with the Muskerry men aiming for a second successive victory over the Haven, having beaten them away last year.
Cill na Martra have five points from four games and a win tomorrow would put them top of the table. Castlehaven sit on four points from three outings.
For Cill na Martra, the early weeks have underlined their resilience. Morgan O’Sullivan’s side have proven difficult to beat on home soil, drawing with Newcestown before getting the better of Nemo Rangers and Éire Óg. They have shown they can trouble any team in the division when their running game clicks.

Their ability to stay competitive even when short a few regulars has been a hallmark of their campaign so far, and they will again lean on that depth and collective work-rate.
The only blip to date was the three-point away loss to a fired-up Carbery Rangers side. Still, Cill na Martra have taken notable scalps in recent seasons and have developed a reputation as one of the most awkward away trips in Division 1. Their attacking play often hinges on pace and directness, driven by former Cork footballer Daniel Ó Duinnín.
Castlehaven, meanwhile, arrive knowing that league form has been patchy in recent years, but their ceiling remains as high as any side in the division.
Remarkably, the Haven have played all three of their games so far away from home — drawing with Éire Óg, beating Knocknagree, and then drawing last time out against West Cork rivals Clonakilty.
A fourth successive away journey this weekend will be another stern test for Seanie Cahalane’s charges. With the likes of Cathal Maguire and Michael Hurley in their ranks, Castlehaven possess match-winners capable of turning tight games.

Both teams will view this as an opportunity to assert themselves in a competitive division where points are hard-earned.
For Cill na Martra, a win would reinforce their growing confidence and underline their status as a side capable of challenging the traditional heavyweights at the top of the league.
For Castlehaven, victory would help them go joint-top with St Finbarr's.
