Cork City club legend Dan Murray has been named as the new Head of Football at Midleton FC.
The three time League of Ireland Premier Division winner has already started work as the club looks to target ‘sustained success both on and off the field,’ according to a statement released on social media.
Murray recently stepped down from Cork City’s Academy, after holding a number of coaching roles down through the years. This included stints with the U19s, U20s, and the U15s in the Underage National Leagues last year.
The Cork City legend is taking over from Billy Woods, and all of this confirmed in a statement that reads:
“Midleton Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of, Cork City legend and former Midleton Senior player, Dan Murray, as our new Head of Football, effective immediately. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter as our club builds on our strong foundations and targets sustained success both on and off the field.
“Dan brings a wealth of experience to this vital role, and his footballing ethos aligns perfectly with our club's vision to be the leading advocate for football within our community, nurture talent, enhance our footballing structures, and foster a culture of excellence across all levels of the game.
“As Head of Football, Dan will build on the solid foundations established by his predecessor, and former Cork City teammate, Billy Woods, and will oversee all football-related operations, including player development, coaching standards, and long-term planning for all of our teams.

"Dan will liaise with the FAI on national development programmes, work closely with our coaching staff, players, and the wider community to ensure our club continues to thrive both competitively and as a hub for local engagement.
“On behalf of our club management committee, please join me in welcoming and fully supporting Dan, as we embark on this exciting new phase for our club.”
Midleton are the reigning Munster Senior League Premier Division champions, their second title in succession.
The Magpies also lifted the Keane Cup this season, under new manager Graham Cummins, with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Mayfield United at Turner’s Cross in October.
The first-team at Knockgriffin Park are also getting ready to take on Cork City at home in the Round of 16 of the Munster Senior Cup next week.
The Magpies will also compete in the FAI Intermediate Cup later this season due to the calendar realignment of the competition.
Midleton are also thriving at underage level, following a successful season that saw the club reach the FAI U17 National Cup final and claim the Gussie Walsh Cup by defeating Leeside AFC on penalties at Turner’s Cross.
