Kilshannig booked their place in the semi-finals of the Co-op SuperStores Cork JAHC on Saturday as they overcame Ballinascarthy.
The beaten finalists of 2022 - losing out to Erin’s Own after a replay in the decider - were 1-14 to 0-13 winners in Coachford, with the north Cork side’s goal coming from sub Colin Ruby in the 43rd minute, as a time when the sides were level at 0-10 each.
Ruby also added a point late on while Paddy Walsh, Jack Twomey and Éanna O’Hanlon all featured on the scoreboard too. Brian O’Donovan was the primary score-getter for the south-west champions Ballinascarthy.
Also in quarter-final action were Cobh and Whitechurch, with Timmy Wilk scoring 1-10 as the east Cork representatives enjoyed a 3-17 to 1-17 victory at Riverstown on Sunday. Adam Lynch and Diarmuid Kearney also netted for Derek Barrett's side.
In the McCarthy Insurance Group JAFC, Nemo Rangers’ third team have a semi-final to look forward to after their 2-11 to 1-8 win over Castlemagner at Mourneabbey on Sunday.
Nemo led by 0-7 to 0-5 after a tight first half before falling behind to a Cillian O’Sullivan goal but the city side responded well and were 1-9 to 1-5 in front when Jason Lyons converted a penalty. Jamie Philpott struck for the second goal in the closing stages to rubber-stamp their passage.
On Saturday, Kilmacabea were 1-11 to 0-5 winners over Carraig na bhFear at Newcestown. Damien Gore finished with 0-8 for the Leap side, including five frees and a two-pointer, while their goal came from Daniel O’Donovan.

At U21A level, Ibane Gaels are through to the final for the first time following a dramatic penalty shootout win away to Kinsale on Sunday.
Olan O’Donovan had been to the fore for the Argideen Rangers/Barryroe combination, scoring a goal as they led for much of the contest, and they would have been out of sight but for some fine saves from Kinsale goalkeeper Seán Byrne.
A late fightback by the hosts saw them edge closer thanks to points from James Murphy and a Conal Kingston goal before Gearóid Murphy tied the game at 1-8 each. With the sides still unable to separated in extra time, evenly sharing ten points, spot-kicks were required and a Luke McGrath save in sudden death allowed Donagh Flynn to score the winner for Ibane Gaels.
They now await the winners of the semi-final between Beara and Douglas, who beat Ballincollig in Saturday’s quarter-final.
Cobh 3-17 Whitechurch 1-17, Kilshannig 1-14 Ballinascarthy 0-13.
