Leeds put in another solid display to beat Mallow Town in a very entertaining Daly Industrial Supplies U19 League encounter at Leeds Park on Saturday.
They join Mallow in joint third on nine points, one behind Douglas Hall and Carrigaline United after five games.
The Northside outfit led 2-0 at the break thanks to Alan Falat and Ben O’Connell. Keeper Andrew Dumitrache put in a Man of the Match performance with some brilliant saves early on.
Mallow reduced the deficit through Eoin Howell in the 68th minute, but Rory Horgan gave Leeds back their two-goal advantage 10 minutes later. The hosts scored again when O’Connell converted from the penalty spot before Mallow's Scott McCabe hit the net with a bullet header at the end.
The visitors made the brighter start and when Bevis Nguenko got in behind Dumitrache had to race off his line to make a brave save. Dumitrache had to be alert again when he got down well to save from a stinging effort from Jamie Barry.
The home side started to grow into the game and forced a string of corner kicks. When Jay Moloney whipped in a dangerous cross in the 34th minute, it took a fine save from Mallow’s net minder Noah Kelly to tip the ball over.
Leeds did make the breakthrough four minutes later when Alan Falat showed great composure to strike home from the edge of the box. It was 2-0 on the stroke of half-time. Falat did well to get down the left and Ben O’Connell was on hand to convert the inch-perfect pass.

Leeds came agonisingly close to increasing their lead two minutes after the restart. Evan Coughlan's 30-yard free hit the top of the crossbar.
Mallow began to push hard and after a mix-up in the Leeds box, a superb clearance by Moloney took Eoin Howell's effort off the line. They got their goal after 68th minutes when Howell got in behind and calmly finished.
Leeds were 3-1 up 10 minutes later with the goal of the game. After a clever corner where Darryll Murray played a delightful ball to Rory Horgan, he stuck a beautiful effort high into the roof of the net.
The drama certainly wasn’t over with a penalty in the 87th minute when O’Connell was upended in the Mallow box. He dusted himself down and sent Kelly the wrong way: 4-1.
To give Mallow credit, they battled away and when Scott McCabe found a pocket of space in the Leeds box in injury time his bullet header flew past Dumitrache.
