On this occasion, the winner held firm from the fast-finishing Adonis trained by John O’Callaghan of Northern Hunt.

The remaining ticketing hounds were Midday Rambler, Zodiac Jack and Knockane Jack.

Speaking after the draghunt, the winning trainer Donal O’Donovan praised his hound’s effort.

“It is nice to get back on the winner’s podium as we haven’t had the best of luck in recent weeks and we can look forward to the Senior All-Ireland Draghunt on the back of this run,” said O’Donovan.

In the Senior Maiden Draghunt, there was joy for Shanakiel Harriers trainers Gerry Murphy and Sheila Cummins when their charge Misty lasted home.

After a competitive draghunt the winner was all out to land the spoils from the fast-finishing Tadgh’s Lad trainer by the Mayfield stalwart Mickey O’Brien.

Shanakiel Harriers stalwart Thomas Canniffe will be encouraged by the performance of Travel Star who ran a credible draghunt to snatch third ticket.

Speaking after the draghunt the winning trainer Gerry Murphy spoke of his delight.

“Misty has always done her best and to win so late in the season is testament to her determination,” said Murphy.

In the Puppy grade Mossgrove Rodger of Shanakiel Harriers bounced back to form when he took the honours from the Ger and Jennifer Kenneally Southern/Carrigaline harriers trained Casey Jack.

Mexican Jet trained by Gerry Murphy and Sheila Cummins of Shanakiel Harriers snatched third ticket with Midday Star, Kempest and Stargazer picking up the minor tickets.

After going a few weeks without managing a ticket it was a great day for the winning trainer Finbarr O’Sullivan.

“We have been struggling with an injury for a few weeks but looking at the season overall I am very happy that I have a hound who will so well in the Senior grade next season,” said Finbarr O’Sullivan.

In the Puppy maiden draghunt the large attendance witnessed a good finish with the honours going to the Thomas and Chloe Murray-trained The Dreamer.

After a driving finish the winner crossed the tape ahead of the consistent Tiger’s Belle trained by Gerry Murphy and Sheila Cummins of Shanakiel Harriers.

Mayfield trainer Marguerite Busteed has had a testing few months with Danganmore Tommy, but the young hound has improved in recent weeks and on this occasion he snatched third ticket.

The family of the late Garry O’Sullivan would like to convey their thanks to the farming community at Rylane for the use of their land that ensured a great day’s sport.
