Matt O'Riordan lands late winner as Erin's Own beat Carraig na bhFear

Erin's Own 0-10 (0-2-6) Carraig na bhFear 0-9 (0-1-7) 

Erin's Own secured a significant victory over Carraig na bhFear in the Michael O'Connor Motor Factors JAFC to claim a place in the quarter-finals.

The win means that Erin's Own have completed their group series undefeated, with two draws and a win. Carraig na bhFear also progressed from the group but will have to be content with a quarter-final tie.

With the wind advantage with them in the first half, Erin's Own had led 0-4 to 0-1 after 10 minutes before Carraig na bhFear began to reel in their opponents. Erin's Own made a strong start with Cian O'Callaghan firing over the opening score from a free after Andrew Power drew the foul.

The sides drew level on five minutes after good play involving Jack Ahern and Sean Whelan, the latter was fouled and Oisin Crowley converted the free. Matt O'Riordan then put Erin's Own back in from with a shot from outside the arch up went the orange flag 0-3 to 0-1 after seven minutes.

He then raised another flag two minutes later, this time white, to move his side three in front.

Crowley replied for Carraig with O'Riordan hitting Erin's Own's second two-pointer of the game in response. Whelan responded with his first before Michael Ahern got Carraig na bhFear first point from play after 20 minutes.

Whelan got his second point not long after from a free and that proved to be the last score of the half with Erin's Own taking a 0-6 to 0-5 lead with them at the break.

The second half saw Carraig na bhFear start brightly with two quick-fire points from Whelan and now they were in front. O'Riordan's response drew the sides level for the second time 0-7 apiece after 45 minutes.

Then it was Carraig's turn to register a two-pointer, a sweeping move which Whelan pointed from well outside the arc saw his side move two clear.

But Erin's Own didn't panic as they hit three unanswered points on the bounce with O'Riordan's point at the very end proving to be the winner.

Carraig na bhFear: S Whelan 0-6 (0-4 f, 1 2pt), O Crowley 0-2, M Ahern 0-1.
