Maguire looks to build on Slovakia MMA win with victory in Germany

Cork MMA fighter Jack Maguire seen here in action on his way to victory in Slovakia.
Mixed Martial Arts rising star from Cork, Jack Maguire, will appear for the second time with Scott Lagdon Oktagon promotions on September 13 when he travels to Hannover in Germany to face local favourite Hugo Vach, also known as The German Tarzan.
It will be another exciting MMA contest for the Rathpeacon native who works full-time as an electrician.
He is going into the lion's den when he takes on Vach. However, he is used to fighting away from home and has worked extremely hard for this fight and hopes to give his fans something to cheer about.
Maguire upset another local hero in his last fight in November when he travelled to Bratislava in Slovakia and will be hoping to do the same this time around.
"It's great to fight again for Oktagon and I'm hoping to give an even better account of myself this time.
"Despite the fact I won in my debut for the promotion, it was really touch and go until I finished the fight strongly to get the all-important victory.
"This match-up is a tricky one because Hugo Vach is a strong competitor in all aspects of mixed martial arts.

"I will definitely have my work cut out for me come fight night, however, I have trained extremely hard for this fight and I will be ready for everything that Vach will throw at me.
“Fans can expect to see me giving it everything I have and really expressing myself in there as I do in all my fights, so I'll do everything possible to get the win!"
Maguire had a lengthy amateur career of 15 contests, impressive in the world of MMA.
He made his professional debut in 2019. After going 1-1 in his first two fights, he took a four-year break from the sport.
Maguire returned to action in 2024 and since then, he's finished his opponent in all three bouts he's competed in, the last of which was in Europe's leading promotion.
"I had about 15 amateur MMA fights before I turned professional in 2019. In my first two professional fights, I won one and lost one and decided to take a break from the sport.
"I returned four years after a four-year period. I'm currently unbeaten, winning my three fights to date and my last fight was with Oktagon promotions in Bratislava Slovakia.
"At home, I train out of the MMA Cork Gym and now I have a total professional record of 4-1."
He's eager to add another victory in Germany.
"I am very very grateful to my parents Debbie and John, my brothers Aaron, Callan, Nathan and my sisters Megan, Fia and Leah for all the support over the years, as I couldn’t be where I am today without them."
