Jockey Wayne Lordan doubles up for Ballydoyle at Tipperary

Tipperary 31-August-2025

Wayne Lordan's golden recent spell continued at Tipperary on Sunday afternoon as he recorded another notable double for Aidan O'Brien.

The Innishannon jockey initiated his double on Endorsement the Even money favourite in the opening Camas Park Irish EBF Maiden.

Lordan completed his double aboard Mississippi River the 6/4 favourite in the Glenvale Stud Race at Tipperary.

Lordan had also recorded a double yesterday at the Curragh for Ballydoyle.

Wayne replaced the injured Ryan Moore and steered Hawk Mountain to victory in the John Ormonde Wexford Sand Irish EBF Maiden.

He followed up in the day's twin feature aboard Mission Central.

Lordan made all the running on the juvenile gelding to land the Group 3 Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes.

LORDAN AT HIS BEST Confidence is key in all areas of life and that is particularly evident in race riding.

Bang in form Lordan was seen to great effect on Mississippi River who justified favouritism in the Glenvale Stud Race.

He engaged in a proper battle with his market rival Bravais from the outset.

The pair were still deadlocked at the furlong marker. It was a ding dong battle inside the final furlong with Lordan and Keane in full flow.

Much to the delight of favourite backers Mississippi River held on to win by a head.

Some have questioned the winner's resolution in the past, but he dug deep today.

Today's winner is entered in a Champions Weekend Handicap at Leopardstown.

Lordan and Aidan O'Brien initiated their double when Endorsement was a game winner of the opening Camas Park Irish EBF Maiden.

He'd been logged into many horse trackers as runner-up to a stable companion on his debut at Killarney in July.

That's traditionally a hot maiden and its form has been validated subsequently.

He was backed into Evens favouritism. His stable companion Christmas Day set the fractions from stall one.

He quickly cried enough early in the straight, Lordan produced Endorsement to tackle leader Limestone at the furlong marker.

He eventually won going away by one and three quarter lengths.

Lordan has lodged an appeal against a costly ten-day whip suspension (September 9th to 18th)

This was incurred in his Group 3 victory at Goodwood last Sunday.

This suspension rules the Cork jockey out of Irish Champions Weekend and the English St Leger Meeting at Doncaster.

With Ryan Moore set to miss the rest of the Flat season with a stress fracture to his femur Lordan would have been the prime beneficiary for many of the marquee Ballydoyle rides on Champions Weekend.

Moore the retained jockey for the all conquering Ballydoyle yard, was having issues with his right leg since the Irish Derby weekend.

An X-ray on Friday revealed he has a fracture in his femur.
