IAHC: Original Aghada-Kildorrery result to stand following Munster Council decision

The Co-op SuperStores IAHC clash between Aghada and Kildorrery will now not be subject to a re-fixture, following a decision by the Munster Council.
The sides met in the opening round of the championship at Caherlag on Sunday, August 3 and the outcome was recorded as a draw, Aghada 1-22 to Kildorrery 2-19. However, Aghada felt that a point scored by them at the end of the first half was incorrectly recorded as one for Kildorrery and that the scoreboard at half-time showed 1-11 to 0-8 when it should have been 1-10 to 0-9.
The east Cork side then outscored their opponents by six points in the second half, with Fionn O'Connor scoring a goal while William Leahy was impressive from dead balls. In their eyes, it equated to a two-point victory but in the view of the officials, the match was a draw.
Aghada sought a hearing with Cork County Board’s competitions control committee (CCC) and, after deliberations, it was decided that the original result should be voided and that the teams should meet again.
Saturday, August 30 was the date decided upon for the re-fixture, between the second and third round of games. However, Aghada appealed the outcome to the Munster Council, who have now restored the original result of a draw.
Last Friday night, Aghada beat Erin’s Own by 1-27 to 0-17 while Kildorrery had another draw, scoring 1-16 against their neighbours Ballygiblin, who finished with 0-19.

It leaves Aghada on top of the table with three points going into the last set of games while Erin’s Own and Kildorrery have two each and Ballygiblin have one.
All of the final round of IAHC games take place on Saturday, September 6 at 4.30pm. Aghada will definitely top the group if they beat Ballygiblin in Páirc Uí Rinn and a draw would also give them a strong likelihood of finishing top.
If Ballygiblin were to win, they would join Aghada on three points – and have head-to-head advantage over them if the other game, between Erin’s Own and Kildorrery in Dungourney, produced a winner. A Ballygiblin win and draw in the other match would leave all four teams on three points, in which case scoring difference would come into play.
Otherwise, the Erin’s Own-Kildorrery clash is effectively a knockout tie, with Kildorrery having a superior scoring difference in the event of a draw leaving them still level.
