Cork Draghunting: Griffin United's super Sean T continues to deliver

Cork Draghunting: Sean and John O'Sullivan with Sean T of Griffin, winner of the Northern Hunt Senior Draghunt.
The scintillating current form of Sean T continued with a blistering front-running display that saw him capture the Northern Hunt Senior draghunt at the Haunted House.
The Griffin United hound was at another level on the day and was unchallenged when crossing the tape ahead of clubmate Knock’s Boy trained by Ger and Noah McCarthy.
Zodiac Jack of Southern/Carrigaline harriers trained by Ger and Jennifer Kenneally in partnership with Ian Freyne ran his best race of the season to snatch third ticket.
In a draghunt where the hounds finished spreadeagled trainer Sean O’Sullivan paid tribute to his classy winner.
“We would have to be pleased in the manner Sean T came home today and now it’s a case of keeping him ticking over with some major draghunts on the horizon,” said Sean O’Sullivan.
Mayfield trainer Denise Rall is certainly on a winning streak as she secured her third win on the belt in this grade with Magic’s Pride.
In a tighter finish than their Senior counterparts, the winner showed a good turn of foot to land the spoils from Jimmy Jack, trained by Ger and Jennifer Kenneally of Southern/Carrigaline Harriers.
Veteran Blue Lad of Southern/Carrigaline harriers is proving there is still plenty of life in the old hound when he snatched third ticket for trainers Trina and Ken Long.
There was natural elation in the winner’s camp with trainer Denise Rall delighted with her success.
“We had a slow start to the season, but our hounds are improving and on a present good run that we hope will continue,” said Denise Rall.
The Puppy meeting at the same venue saw two close finishes with the Senior Puppy honours going to the Finbarr O’Sullivan-trained Mossgrove Rodger.
When the call went up, the hounds reacted when increasing the pace to the tape with the winner holding off all comers with a clinical front-running display of running.
Slievemmish Duchess of Clogheen from Damien Wade’s kennel is running well but had to settle for the runner-up slot.
Shanakiel Harriers trainer Mary Barrett is also having a very consistent season with her charge Lewis Lass, who filled third place.
The winning connections were elated after the draghunt.
“Mossgrove Rodger is a consistent hound and a pleasure to train and he is certainly giving us some memorable moments this season,” said Finbarr O’Sullivan.
In the Puppy Maiden Draghunt, only five hounds managed to handle the terrain and complete the course with the honours going to the Gerry Murphy-trained Guinness Boy.
The Shanakiel Harriers hound finished well to cross the tape ahead of The Model trained by William Freyne and Ryan Duffy with the winning trainers also securing third ticket with Tiger’s Boy.
