Cork Player Ratings: Tough outing for many talented youngsters

Couldn’t be faulted for Galway’s goal and made another good save as well as a critical interception. Found a Cork player with nearly all of her puckouts. 7
Battled hard all through against a tough opponent and was well on top of her direct opponent. Like a lot of the Cork defence played well. 7
Never gave up and had a right battle with Galway’s Cora Kenny all through. Kept her scoreless for the entire game, which is never easy to do. 7
Took a bit of time to settle but once she did had another good game. Never gives up and just when you think you have the better of her she is back at you. 7
Worked hard all through before she was taken off in the second half. 5
Started the game well and cleaned up a lot of the early Galway ball. Played a captain’s role until she was withdrawn in the second half. 6
Another who gave it everything as they faced a Galway forward line that everything seemed to go right for. 6
Moved into the half-forward line in the first half and like a lot of the Cork attack found it difficult to get the better of a swarming Galway defence. 5
Came into the game in the second half and got a couple of points when Cork needed a boost. But like a lot of the Cork forwards just couldn’t get on top. 6
Got the goal at the end to make it close but again found it difficult to break down the Galway defence. Can’t be faulted for her efforts all through. 6
Another who worked hard, but just couldn’t turn any sort of possession into scores. Battled well but it just wasn’t her, and the Cork attack’s day. 5
One of Cork’s danger players and Galway knew this. She was singled out for close attention and credit must go to the winners as they kept her quiet until she was taken off. 5
Another who was marked out for close attention as, like McNabola, is capable of tormenting any defence, but not on this occasion. Was well marked all through. Scored all of Cork’s frees which kept them in contention for some time. 6
Again another that it was quite obvious Galway had earmarked for tight marking and they certainly did that. Every time she got on the ball there were two or three players around her and she never got the chance to really get going. 5
By far Cork’s best player on the day. Condon was withdrawn into a sweeping role and cleaned up ball after ball. No surprise that she is on the senior panel and on this display is definitely that is going to feature at that level going forward. 8
