Sheila Cummins and Gerry Murphy with Kempest and Guinness Boy winners of the Puppy and Puppy maiden draghunts at Stuake.
Sean T produced yet another flawless display of running to win the Clogheen Senior draghunt at picturesque Stuake on Sunday.
Trained by John and Sean O’Sullivan of Griffin United the championship leader showed in front on the finish and ran out a two length winner from clubmate High Miss trained by Donal O’Donovan.
The ultra- consistent Hannah Bawn ran another cracking race to snatch third ticket with the winning trainer thrilled with his hounds front running display.
“It was a great viewing draghunt and a good race from start to finish and just glad we got there in the end with a battling performance,” said Sean O’Sullivan.
Southern/Carrigaline harriers veteran Blue Lad gave an exhibition when winning the Senior maiden draghunt crossing the tape a comfortable winner from the Mayfield duo of Don’t Panic Lad and Magic’s Beauty.
Blue Lad in his seventh season competing is trained by Trina and Ken Long and they were elated watching their prize asset landing the honours.
“We are thrilled as this hound will always have a special place in our hearts with the fun and enjoyment, he has given us over many years,” said Trina Long.

The Puppy action got proceedings off at this venue and it proved a memorable evening for Shanakiel trainers Gerry Murphy and Sheila Cummins when they completed a double.
In fairness to the host club the one guarantee you get from them is good open clean running at this venue and it was evident the young hounds enjoyed the terrain.
When the hounds came into view the eventual winner Kempest had a length lead and on the drive to the tape he withstood all challengers to land the spoils.
Clubmate Mossgrove Rodger ran another cracking race to snatch runner up for trainer Finbarr O’Sullivan with the Shanakiel club also filling third and fourth tickets with Lewis Lass and Mexican Jet.
It proved a great evening for Shanakiel harriers when they filled the first four tickets in the Puppy Maiden draghunt.
The double was completed for Gerry Murphy and Sheila Cummins when Guinness Boy took the honours and just for good measure kennelmate Tiger’s Belle filled second place.
In another competitive draghunt Thomas and Chloe Murray’s The Dreamer snatched third ticket.
There was natural elation in the winners, camp after securing the elusive double.
“It is hard enough to win one draghunt but to get a double on the same day is stuff dreams are made of and our hounds have been rewarded for their consistency,” Gerry Murphy said.
The Clogheen club would like to convey their appreciation to the farming community of Stuake for allowing them the use of their land in what proved to be a very successful meeting.
