Cork will play Dublin in this weekend’s All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-final after the draw was made on RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland programme.

The game will take place on Saturday in Croke Park at 6.15pm and it will be live on GAA+. It will be part of a double-header with the Dubs meeting Limerick in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-final at 4pm.

Cork were actually drawn with Kerry, but the local rivals obviously can't meet at this juncture having clashed in the group stage a couple of weeks ago.

Elsewhere, Kerry will host Cavan on Saturday in Fitzgerald Stadium from 3.30pm. On Sunday, Down welcome Galway to Páirc Esler at 1.45pm and Donegal lock horns with Louth in Ballybofey (4pm).

Those three games are also on GAA+.

The Rebels will come into the game with the Dubs high in confidence after the must-win encounter against Roscommon last Saturday at Laois Hire O’Moore Park in their last game in Group 2.

John Cleary’s team held their nerve to come out on the right side of the scoreline, 0-19 to 0-17. It broke the run of three championship defeats on the bounce and also an early exit.

For this weekend’s opponents, Dublin, they eked out a 0-22 to 0-20 victory over Derry at Páirc Esler last Saturday.

Cork last played Dublin in the championship back in 2022 in the All-Ireland quarter-final at GAA HQ. Cleary was interim boss at the time before getting the gig on a full-time basis a month later. The Rebels lost by eleven points, 0-21 to 0-10.

The Leesiders ensured that the game was competitive initially. They trailed by three points at the break, but the quality and conditioning of the Dubs shone in the second half as they won out by a handsome margin in the end.

Cork are aiming to get over the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final hurdle having fallen at that stage 12 months ago after losing to Louth by a point in Inniskeen. The Rebels are hoping to reach the last eight for the third time in four seasons.
