Nemo Rangers will look to get back to winning ways in the McCarthy Insurance Group Division 1 Football League this evening.

The city side make the short journey out to Ovens to take on Éire Óg in Round 4 with throw-in at 8pm. Having won the first two games, Nemo Rangers fell to a two-point home loss last time out against St Finbarr’s.

There was an over-reliance on Conor Horgan to get the scores against the Barrs. That will need to change in the short-term if they want a positive league campaign.

The experienced Paul Kerrigan will be pushing to start after impressing when he came on in the last game. He kicked 0-3 (1 2pt) when he was introduced for the second half against St Finbarr’s.

Éire Óg will be buoyed after defeating Douglas last time out away from home. Harry O’Reilly’s side took down the city outfit on a scoreline of 3-9 to 0-10 to register their first points of the campaign.

Former Kerry footballer Mark Griffin and Donncha Kelly contributed 1-1 apiece with Brian Thompson also raising a green flag.

The spread of scorers with eight in total will please the Éire Óg management especially when Daniel Goulding didn’t feature.

Also this evening from Division 1, Douglas host St Michael’s with a start time of 7.45pm.

An-all city derby with both teams stuck on two points after three games. Both won their respective opening round encounters, but both have lost their last two matches.

There would have been soul-searching after Douglas’ home defeat to Éire Óg. It would have been more the performance rather than the result that would have disappointed the management that includes Cork's 2010 All-Ireland winner Paudie Kissane.

St Michael’s would have taken positives from their 2-16 to 0-17 home loss to Clonakilty nearly two weeks ago. Pat Doyle’s side were down 13 points at half-time before a much improved second half display. Luke O’Herlihy and Liam O’Sullivan will be looking to fire the Blackrock team to a big two points this evening.

Elsewhere, in Division 2 this evening, there’s an important game as Ballincollig entertain Dohenys (8pm).

The Village got relegated from Division 1 last year and would be seen as one of the teams fancied to finish in one of the top two promotion spots this year. They have three points on the board after their three games. They lost by a point on home soil last time out to Carbery Rangers.

Dohenys are joint leaders with Carbery Rangers and Knocknagree on six points coming into Round 4. Declan O'Dwyer’s outfit hammered Castletownbere in Dunmanway in their last outing, 6-11 to 0-10.

Fionn Herlihy, Keith White and Mark Buckley are getting the bulk of Dohenys’ scores.

There is a fourth game taking place this evening, Na Piarsaigh are at home to Kildorrery from Division 6 with throw-in at 7pm.
