A chaotic Munster Derby between Cork City and Treaty United saw the Rebel Army beaten at the Markets Field in Limerick.

Madison McGuane scored the winner in the 87th minute and decided a game that had five goals and a red card.

Treaty went ahead twice on the day, through goals from Mara McCleary and Isabella Marie Flocchini, and it was Kiera Sena and Cathranne Fitzgerald who equalised for City.

The full-time result means Frank Kelleher and his players have just three points collected from four games going into the international break.

The Rebel Army went to Limerick looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to champions Athlone Town at Lissywollen.

Frank Kelleher made just two changes from that game in the Midlands, with Niamh Cotter and Ellie O’Brien in for Zoe Finnerty and Laura Harmon.

City were determined to start fast and assert themselves in the derby, with an early shot from Eva Mangan going just over the bar in the 4th minute.

Treaty wrestled control and freed up for Katie Lawlee for a low cross on the left wing that missed everyone inside the penalty area.

It was a small opening, and City managed to break through Shaunagh McCarthy when they got the ball back. The full-back pulled clear and managed to get a shot away, but this hit the side netting in the 11th minute.

Aoibhin Donnelly was the next player in an orange jersey to try her luck, and with that came a corner which was scrambled away by the home side.

The next opportunity for either team fell to Marie-Flocchini and her clean-strike went straight into the hands of Una Foyle.

Treaty went on to have their best period in possession, and with that came the opening goal.

Grace McInerney set that up with a long ball into the box that found McCleary, who looked to be in an offside position when she scored from right in front of the posts in the 27th minute.

Treaty were reduced to 10 players before the break as McCleary was sent off for a fouling Christina Dring as she tried to run clean through at goal in the dying seconds of the first half.

City hit back in the 63rd minute and it was Sena who ensured parity with a neat header.

Treaty retook the lead just 90 seconds later, with Flocchini slotting in after picking up a pass from Ayaka Ikeza.

The Rebel Army had to wait until the 77th minute for their near clear sight at goal, and it was Fitzgerald who levelled by bundling in a Mangan corner.

It was end to end, and the game was ultimately decided by a mistake by City back-line that played McGuane in for a neat finish passed Foyle.

The Rebel Army tried to put together a late chance to equalise, but nothing materialised during the six minutes of added time.
