Kilshannig footballers celebrate historic 2024 season

Kilshannig GAA held their victory social on Saturday, February 8 at Springfort Hall Country House Hotel in Mallow to celebrate the successful 2024 season.
The Glantane-based side were crowned McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Premier Intermediate football champions after defeating Aghabullogue in the final after a replay.
Along with medal presentations to the football panel on the night, joint captains Colm O'Shea and Éanna O'Hanlon made presentations to the management team of Denis Reen, Colm O'Dea and Patrick O'Connell on behalf of the squad.
Dominic Jenks also received an award for his contribution to the Kilshannig football team in 2024 on behalf of the club for all the work he did behind the scenes.

The 2024 Club Person of the Year went to Ger O’Donovan, while forward Darragh O’Sullivan landed Player of the Year. The latter was in sparkling form for the Avondhu side last year playing a key role up front. It was his pair of points from frees right at the end of the game that sent the final against Aghabullogue to a replay.
A great night was had celebrating the 2024 year for Kilshannig in front of a large attendance with music by the 3 Buachaillí singing the night away.
Kilshannig can look forward to playing in the Senior ranks once again this year. In the McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC, they will face Newmarket, Kanturk and Éire Óg in the group stage.

It has been some rise for Kilshannig. They are one of the most upwardly mobile clubs in the country having won the Cork Junior A, Intermediate A and Premier Intermediate football championships in the space of five years
Before the SAFC later in the year, Kilshannig's campaign is already underway. They apply their trade in the McCarthy Insurance Group Division 3 football league and got a win on the opening weekend following a 1-14 to 0-13 victory away to Kiskeam last Sunday morning.
Next up for them is a home match against Iveleary in Glantane on Saturday week at 4pm. A repeat of last year’s epic PIFC semi-final when Kilshannig came from behind to win after extra time.
