Cork native and experienced racing driver Matt Griffin will continue his partnership with long-time teammate Duncan Cameron once again in 2025, as the two bring Ferrari back to the British GT Championship this season, with their 296 GT3.
It’s the first time that a Ferrari will compete in the championship since 2020, which was also the last time Griffin and Duncan brought a Prancing Horse to British GT racing.
Their British GT return will also ensure the completion of a unique milestone, as Griffin and Cameron will have raced all five Ferrari GT3 models – including the previous 488, 458 Italia, F430 Scuderia and first-generation F430 – together in British GT.
The British GT season begins in Donington, April 5.
Griffin and Cameron have plenty of experience in British GT racing, winning six races together and securing third place in the championship in 2010, before finishing fourth in 2011 and 2012.
The duo will compete for Swiss-based Spirit of Race, an AF-Corse run team which the pair have been with for the past eight seasons, running again this season with their iconic green livery.
Griffin and Cameron have been teammates long before that though, with the pair racing alongside each other in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) since 2014. They will compete again in the 2025 ELMS championship, with their Ferrari 296 GT3.
In the year prior to his first ELMS campaign with Cameron, Griffin was crowned GTE champion in the 2013 season, securing a class podium finish in each race as well as three race victories.

It’s not the first time Griffin and Cameron will race a 296 GT3 either – with the duo bringing it to last seasons’ ELMS championship.
With South African David Perel also part of the team, the three were crowned LMGT3 winners in round two, which took place in Le Castellet, France.
However, retirements in Spa-Franchorchamps, Belgium, and Mugello, Italy, killed any hopes of a championship win, and they finished ninth in the standings.
Their best championship finish in recent years was in 2021, with the team second in the ELMS championship, 37 points behind the number 80 Iron Lynx. Griffin and his teammates finished third the year prior.

Now in his 14th year racing with Ferrari, The 42-year-old has had a long and successful motorsport career, with his win in last year’s ELMS championship showing he’s still got the pace to perform at a high level, as he’s racked up over 400 races in Ferrari GT cars.
Career highlights include competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, with a third-place finish in the GTE Am class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013, as well as a victory in the 24 Hours of Spa-Franchorchamps event, one of his 35 race wins with Ferrari.
Griffin was only 10 years old when he first got into motorsport, with his father getting him his first go-kart.
After winning many races in Ireland the Corkman headed across the pond, joining Formula Renault UK, a highly competitive championship with the best young talents aiming to reach the highest level.
In fact, it was so competitive – that in the 2002 season, Griffin’s teammate at Manor Motorsport was a 17-year-old Lewis Hamilton.
The now 7-time Formula 1 world champion finished third in the championship that year with three wins in 11 races, while Griffin finished the championship in 11th place.
