Clinical Ballygarvan knock out Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels in JAFC

Ballygarvan collected the South East Junior A Football title in Crosshaven after beating Carrigaline.

Ballygarvan 1-12 Liscarrcoll/Churchtown Gaels 0-8

Ballygarvan were more clinical than Liscarrcoll/Churchtown Gaels in the McCarthy Insurance Junior A quarter-final in Blarney.

The Avondhu champions, who only won that final on Wednesday, were left to rue missed goal chances as Ray O'Halloran and Evan O'Connor were more accurate at the other end.

A super Gary White save denied the Gaels an early goal before O'Connor played in O'Halloran for a point. The same combination added another on 11 minutes and the lead was extended with Sean Brady point.

The Gaels registered their first score following a beauty from Seamus O'Callaghan.

Former Cork minor Oier O'Callaghan almost blew this tie wide open as he waltzed through Ballygarvan's defence only to have his shot saved. His side registered points courtesy of Padraig O’Shea and Delee: 0-4 to 0-3 after 25 minutes.

A point apiece from Mackey and O'Shea left only a point between them at the break, 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of the South East men.

Ballygarvan opened the second half with intent as O’Halloran and O’Connor had early points.

As the South East winners were taking charge of this game Niall Dowd and Mackey had their side leading by 0-9 to 0-4 on 36 minutes, as they both had points Ballygarvan were making hay as O'Halloran and O’Connor pointed.

A free from O Shea was giving hope but it was dampened up the other end as O’Connor cracked the ball to the Gaels net.

Gaels to their credit refused to go away and Colin O’Brien and O'Shea added two points to their tally.

With the game heading to an inevitable result O’Halloran added the final score
