Killeagh 3-14 Inniscarra 4-13

Inniscarra ended their Premier 1 MHC campaign on a high following their win over Killeagh.

Their win, along with Sarsfields victory over Midleton, means that Scarra and Killeagh are out of the championship.

Sars and Midleton both finished on four points which means they are into the semi-finals.

Credit to Inniscarra they were deserving winners as they made better use of the strong wind in their favour in the first half. By the break, they were 3-8 to 2-5 up and battled hard afterwards to try and quell the considerable Killeagh threat, led by Cormac Deane, Barry Walsh and Ben Walsh.

When they needed them the likes of David Enright, Colm Herlihy, Niall Buckley and Sean Murphy battled hard for Inniscarra to ensure they took the points and their first win in this year’s campaign.

Darragh O’Brien opened the scoring for Inniscarra, with Barry Walsh replying for the home side. But two more from O’Brien, along with one from Jack Shine had Inniscarra 0-4 to 0-2 in front.

A brilliant run from Sean Meade saw him score Killeagh’s opening goal, but Inniscarra replied within a minute with their own green flag, through Cathal Lyons. With 22 minutes gone, they got their second, this time Daniel O'Connor finding the back of the net, to make it 2-6 to 1-4.

From the restart they regained possession and Jack Shine scored their third goal, with Lyons adding a point.

Killeagh hit back with Deane scoring a goal and a late point from Ben Walsh made it 3-8 to 2-5 at half-time.

Six minutes into the second half, Inniscarra hit Killeagh with another killer blow, when O’Connor scored again, to make it 4-9 to 2-6.

Killeagh kept battling away with Barry Walsh adding two points and with 15 minutes to go it was 4-11 to 2-8. Ben Geary threw Killeagh a lifeline with their third goal, with Barry Walsh adding four points, to make it 4-11 to 3-12, with five minutes left.
