Nemo Rangers beat the Barrs to claim the AOS Security Junior football league three title

NEMO RANGERS claimed the AOS Security Seandún Junior Football League 3 title as they defeated St Finbarr’s in the decider at Ballinlough recently.

This game was dictated by the wind as St Finbarr’s held the upper hand in the opening half, with most of their scores coming in this period. 

The tide turned in Nemo Rangers’ favour after the interval, as they restricted St Finbarr’s to a single point.

Nemo Rangers opened the scoring with a pointed free by Jamie Philpott, before St Finbarr’s seized the initiative. 

Eoghan Hallahan, Ruairí O’Connor and Brian Mannion each slotted over unanswered points from play for St Finbarr’s, before Scott Philpott replied with a point from play, midway through the opening half.

Cathal Turner and Conn Livingstone got a point each from play for St Finbarr’s, but Eoin Kelly added a point from play for Nemo Rangers.

St Finbarr’s had Nemo Rangers pinned back as Ruairí O’Connor added two points including his side’s first free. 

This was followed by a point by Luke O’Shea as St Finbarr’s led by 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval.

With the elements in their favour for the second half, Nemo Rangers upped the ante, as Seymour was quick off the mark with a point from play, within seconds of the restart.

Nemo Rangers continued to have St Finbarr’s on the back foot and Conor Casey drilled home the game's only goal in the 36th minute, to reduce the deficit to a single point.

Wayward shooting was proving to be costly for St Finbarr’s in the third quarter, while two points by Scott Philpott put Nemo Rangers back in the driving seat.

Entering the final quarter, Jamie Philpott and Scott Philpott both slotted over a pointed free each to leave three points between the sides. 

Ruairí O’Connor replied with St Finbarr’s only score of the second half, eight minutes from time.
