Cork City Sports International meet returns to Cork in July after a year's absence
Ireland’s Phil Healy will be competing in the Cork City Sports 200m race.
TUESDAY, July 9th, at the MTU stadium in Bishopstown, Ireland's premier athletics meeting, the Cork City Sports International meet returns having been absent from the calendar last year due to track resurfacing at MTU.
A host of Irish and International stars who recently participated at the European championships in Rome will be competing on the night chasing ranking points, prize money and qualification standards.
Included in the list of international stars is Australian 200M champion and Diamond League winner Torri Lewis.
The 19 year-old superstar beat World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson in the opening Diamond League meeting of the year in Xiamen, China.
Up against Lewis in the women’s 200m will be Irish 4 x 400m relay teammates Sophie Becker and Bandon’s Phil Healy, who is a great supporter of Cork City Sports.
Phil will be attempting to run a double in the woman’s 100M and 200M.
Also, in the 200m will be another 19 year old, Nora Lindahl from Sweden who is the current U20 European champion and a rising star.

The women’s 800m will be headlined by Corks Louise Shanahan.
Louise will be up against it with athletes of the calibre of Sadi Henderson USA and Charné Swart from South Africa and Julia Nielsen from Sweden, all of whom are capable of running under two minutes for the distance.
Darragh McIlhenny has confirmed that he is going to defend his men's 3,000m title from 2022.
This will be a difficult task as there are several names in the field who capable of running sub 7.40 and breaking the long-standing meeting record set by the great Craig Mottram in 2005.
Cathal Doyle will defend his Mile title against a host of world class milers including Irish superstar Nick Griggs and Corks own Charlie O'Donovan of the Villanova track team Sarah Lavin has been in superb form over the last two year and will be looking to run sub 13 seconds again this year to win the 100M Hurdles title.
Eric Favors will attempt another Irish record in the Shot Putt against a strong field.
