AUTHORITY of Northern Hunt bagged his fifth win on the trot when winning the Kerry Pike/Fair Hill Harriers Senior Draghunt at Tower on Sunday.

Trainers and hounds have had to endure cold and wet conditions since the season started in March but on this occasion, they were treated to beautiful sunshine.

Reports from the various vantage points suggested the hounds were driving the hunt at pace and when they showed on the finish the winner showed his class to run out a comfortable winner.

Blue Daisy trained by Trina and Ken Long of Southern/Carrigaline Harriers produced a season best to fill second ticket ahead of the Martin Wall-trained Wolfe Tone Lass of Northern Hunt.

There was an air of relief for the winning trainer after his latest win.

“Authority missed the Newcestown midweek rerun draghunt with an injury and I only made my mind up to run him here a few hours before the slip,” he said.

In the Senior Maiden Draghunt there was joy for Griffin United trainer John Crowley when his charge Danganmore Drifter finished well to take his first win of the season.

In another good finish the winner found an extra gear to the tape with the Ger and Jennifer Kenneally of Southern/Carrigaline Harriers trained Zodiac Jack filling the runner-up slot.

Mayfield trainer Denise Rall will be pleased with the performance of Magic’s Pride who snatched third ticket for the kennel.

For the winning trainer John Crowley it was a welcome win.

“They don’t come my way very often and when they do you tend to enjoy the moment,” he said.
