Authority of Northern Hunt made it four wins on the belt with another stunning performance at the Southern/Carrigaline Harriers Senior draghunt at Ballygarvan on Sunday.

The John O’Callaghan hound after a slow start to the season is now back to his best as he bids to secure his fourth consecutive Senior championship.

In another smashing display of finishing the winner crossed the tape ahead of the Sean and Joe Hennessy trained Tex of Shanakiel Harriers with the Tomas and Chloe Murray trained Chloe’s Boy of Shanakiel Harriers in third.

Speaking after the draghunt the winning trainer praised his hound in the manner he found the winning formula for the fourth time this season.

“Authority has given my kennel so much satisfaction over the years and although in the twilight of his career he still manages to find an extra gear coming home,” he said.

There was also joy for Clogheen trainers William Freyne and grandson Ryan Duffy when their charge secured their third consecutive win.

The Clogheen hound is in superb form and on this occasion he crossed the tape ahead the Anthony and Denis Wall Mayfield trained Faye’s Lad with the consistent Huntsman’s Sunshine securing third ticket.

The Rising Sun hosted the Puppy meeting on Friday and it proved to be a huge success with all the hounds completing the course.

On good open terrain the Senior pups drove the hunt at pace and when they showed on the finish it was the Clogheen hound Not Now May that looked to be in pole position.

In the drive to the tape Ozzy T of Griffin United trained by John and Sean O’Sullivan who showed the best turn of foot to cross the tape ahead of Not Now May and the fun running Dingo trained by the Shanakiel Harriers stalwart Davey O’Shea.

In the Puppy Maiden, the Clogheen husband and wife team of Gary and Nicole Freyne went one better when Not Now Al secured his second win of the campaign.

On this occasion the Clogheen hound finished ahead of the Christy and Marie Keating trained One More from the Kerry Pike/Fair Hill Harriers club with Now Now Betty of Clogheen in third.

The Southern/Carrigaline Harriers club would like to convey their thanks and appreciation to the farming communities at the Rising Sun and Ballygarvan for their generosity in giving them leave to run on their land.
