Very Division 2B National League: Cork Wexford: Castle Road, Saturday, March 2nd, 2pm.

ROUND four of the Very Division 2B League has Cork taking on Wexford in Castle Road tomorrow (Saturday).

It’s a second home game for Donie Daly’s side and a game where a win will almost certainly ensure his charges secure their place in the final down for decision on March 23rd.

Cork sit top of the group with three victories from three games, whilst Galway, Tipperary and Clare are hot on their heels with two wins from three, Wexford have one win with Kilkenny struggling, having lost all three games thus far.

As has been the case in in the last three games, Cork will again rotate players as they continue to give everyone an opportunity to make the championship panel of thirty.

The management have been bringing different player to every league game and before they announce their championship panel manager Donie Daly explained he will also have a few players who have been involved with the seniors for the league expected to be coming onto his Intermediate championship panel.

In their three games to date, Cork have had three goalkeepers and have given them all an opportunity to stake a claim to a place on the championship panel.

Molly Lynch lined out against Tipperary, with Caoimhe Buckley taking the number one jersey against Galway, whilst Ciara Hurley was between the posts for the Kilkenny game.

A lot of players have featured in the games to date and for this week’s clash there are 11 changes to the side that lined out against Kilkenny with Caoimhe Buckley, Ciara Morrison, Edel Sheehan, Tara McCarthy Amy O’Sullivan , Hannah O’Leary, Katie Walsh and Niamh O’Regan amongst Daly’s’ starting 15 this time out.

For Wexford, manager Alan Brennan this is a must win game if his side are to have any hope of making it to the final.

Having lost to Clare in round one and securing a comprehensive win in round two against Kilkenny they lost out to Tipperary in a round three clash where four points separated the sides at the full time whistle.

Galway will provide their opposition in their last game and they will need to win this as well to have any hope of making it through.

They trailed Tipperary by three point at the interval in their last game having conceded two first half goals and it was nip and tuck to the full time whistle.

They will look to Sal Doyle, Emma Dempsey, Caoimhe Byrne, and Clodagh Fitzhenry to get the result that will keep their hope alive.

Clare host Kilkenny where a win would see the home sides nicely places facing into their last game next weekend against Cork.

Galway travel to meet a steadily improving Tipperary side where a victory for both is crucial.

CORK MINORS GET THEIR SHOW ON THE ROAD

The defence of the Minor All-Ireland camogie title gets underway on Sunday when Cork travel to Abbotstown to meet Antrim at 2pm in the opening game of the round robin series.

Having lost out surprisingly to Tipperary in the Munster semi-final new minor manager Mossie O’ Sullivan will be determined to get the bid for three in a row off to a good start.

Antrim return to the Minor A grade following on their successful campaign last season where they won the Minor A shield defeating Limerick.

A lot of excellent work is going on in Antrim with clubs such as Loughgiel producing excellent players and they will relish a meeting with the reigning champions.

With games to follow against Waterford, Galway, Tipperary and Kilkenny Cork will be determined to get off to the best possible start.
