Former Cork ladies football star heading to Kenya
Orlagh Farmer pictured in action against Dublin is heading to Kenya to help local communities.
She may have retired from ladies inter-county football but former Cork star Orlagh Farmer is certainly keeping herself busy.
And her latest venture will see her take the sport to Kenya for an exhibition game, as part of the Warriors for Humanity campaign.
“In November, I will travel to Kenya with a group of inter-county GAA players as part of Plant the Planet Games 2023, a fundraising campaign organised by Warriors for Humanity, Self Help Africa and the Gaelic Players Association,” said Orlagh.

“During our visit (November 18-26), we aim to plant one million trees to help local communities as well as take part in an exhibition GAA game and visit cultural and climate related projects.
“In order to raise funds for Self Help Africa through my iDonate link, I am completing a solo run marathon challenge - basically I am solo running (with a football) the distance of a marathon over the next fpur weeks (26 miles) in different locations around Cork county. I am hoping to get some people to join me on this challenge.
“I am also running two upcoming fundraising events in Midleton at the end of this month.” The first of them will take place, tomorrow Saturday, where Orlagh will be doing a Spin-a-thon at the Farmers Market from 09.30am to 1.30pm.
Orlagh will also be hosting a GAA memorabilia exhibition at Midleton GAA pavilion (hall) on the bank holiday Monday next, October 30, from 11am to 5pm.
Orlagh has set up an iDonate page to help raise fund for Plant the Planet Games Self Help Africa. The link is:
