CILL NA MARTRA’S Tadhg Corkery has failed in his appeal against the red card he received three weeks ago while playing against Castlewtownbere in the Bon Secours Hospital PIFC semi-final.
Corkery will miss the final this Sunday as Cill na Martra face Bantry Blues in Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 1pm.
As just mentioned, the Cork senior footballer received a straight red card in Cill na Martra’s semi-final win over Castletownbere in a game where five players were sent to the line in the second-half. Castletownbere had Gary Murphy, Fintan Fenner and Billy Murphy red carded. For Cill na Martra, Corkery was shown a red card while Maidhcí Ó Duinnín was black carded as the Muskerry side prevailed 2-12 to 1-7 to finally get over the last four hurdle and in the process book a place in the decider after the Muskerry side suffered three consecutive semi-final defeats.

Cill na Martra were quick to appeal the red card given to Corkery. The suspension was upheld by Cork GAA’s Central Hearings Committee. It’s a blow for Cill na Martra heading into the final this Sunday as they aim to join the senior ranks for the first time in their history.
Meanwhile, Newcestown’s Richard O’Sullivan has been cleared to play in Saturday’s Co-Op SuperStores SAHC final replay against Blarney in Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 5pm. His late red card in last Sunday’s draw has been rescinded.
