BRIDE Rovers and Blarney will meet in a re-fixed Co-op SuperStores Cork Senior A Hurling Championship semi-final on Saturday, October 14 at 3pm in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Experienced Tullylease referee Simon Stokes has been appointed for the clash, which forms part of a double-header with the Premier Junior Hurling final between St Catherine's and Erin's Own.

Last Saturday, the clubs met at the Páirc and were level at the end of 60 minutes and again at the end of extra time before Bride Rovers won in a penalty shootout.

However, Bride Rovers sought to make a substitution near the end of extra time and had 16 players on the pitch in the play that led to them winning an equalising free.

With Mark Coleman in top form up front, Blarney led late on in the additional 20 minutes before the Adam Walsh free that sent the game to penalties, with Bride prevailing after keeper Cian Hogan made three saves.

Blarney raised an objection with the Cork County Board and there was a full inquiry by the Competitions Control Committee on Thursday night. On Friday morning, the decision was communicated to the clubs that the game be played again.

The final against Newcestown is currently scheduled for Sunday, October 22.

Earlier this year, Derry club Watty Graham’s Glen, beaten by Kilmacud Crokes in the All-Ireland Club SFC final, appealed after Kilmacud had 16 on the field.

The GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee ordered a re-fixture but, with Kilmacud set to appeal that finding, Glen withdrew their own objection and the result stood.
