Eire Og 1-16
Inniscarra 1-13
WITH both sides already qualified from the group this all mid-Cork clash in the SE Systems senior camogie championship in Castle Road on Monday evening was all about that would top the group.
After a contest that exploded in the second half, it was Eire Og who prevailed after a game that was allowed flow by excellent referee Cathal McAllister, all too often we have had stop start games with continuous stoppages and it great to see sensible application of the rules.
In a close opening half it was score for score as both sides matched each other in all sectors and it was level on no fewer than five occasions as the lead changed hands.
Orlaith Cremin and Emma Crowley gave Eire Og an early lead with points.
Ellen Crowley had Inniscarra on the score board with a point either side of Orlaith Cremin’s second point which kept Eire Og ahead. Inniscarra responded to go one clear, but again Inniscarra got back on level and so it continued to the half time whistle to leave it eight points apiece.

The second half exploded into life as Ellen Crowley finished a ground shot to the net to give Inniscarra the prefect restart after four minutes but Eire Og with Avril Mc Sweeney and Margaret O’ Herlihy keeping them in touch were back within a point soon after conceding those early points.
Emma Crowley had the sides on level by the end of the third quarter and from here on both sides went for it.
Caoimhe Henchy finished to the net, reacting quickly the rebound after a good save from Caoimhe Buckley, and with Isobel Sheehan pointing Eire Og were four in front.
Battling hard Aileen Sheehan had it back to three with an Inniscarra point, then twice mor the sides swapped points as the clock hit 60 minutes.
Throwing everything at the Eire Og defence, Inniscarra pushed forward and speedy corner forward Ellen Crowley evaded defenders and won a close in free.
Aine O’Regan’s superb effort was diverted out for a forty five, more late drama, but again, the Eire Og defence stood firm to clear their lines and hold on for a superb victory over their mid Cork neighbours.
