Cork City retained the Munster Senior Cup with a comfortable win over St Mary’s at Turner’s Cross tonight.

An 18th provincial title never really looked in doubt for John Caulfield’s side, who set the tone from the off, with Conor McCarthy, Michael Howard and Karl Sheppard having early chances before Josh O’Hanlon opened the scoring in the 16th minute, netting the rebound after Ryan Delaney saved from Barry McNamee.

O’Hanlon, Garry Buckley and Sheppard had further chances before half-time but good defending by Mary’s players Aiden O’Callaghan and Cian Murphy kept it at 1-0 until the break.

While the opening stages of the second half were quiet, City doubled the lead on 66 when Tobi Adebayo Rowling’s cross deflected off Murphy and in.

City sub Kieran Sadlier made an instant impact as he netted a long-range effort and then got his second and their fourth after a one-two with Sheppard, before the latter rounded things off with the fifth goal at the death.

CORK CITY: Cherrie; Adebayo-Rowling, McCarthy, McLoughlin, Horgan; Keohane, Buckley; Sheppard, McNamee, Howard; O’Hanlon (Sadlier 59).
