CORK hurling ace Mark Coleman was the hero for Blarney on Wednesday night as he shot an incredible 15 of his club's tally of 18 points in their U21 victory over Douglas.
The All-Star nominated wing-back was in irrepressible form against the city side with three scores from play and another 12 from placed balls. Brian Turnbull struck 1-5 for Douglas and Shane Kingston 0-5 but they now go into the backdoor.
The Blarney club have struggled in recent years in the PIHC grade but their minors are through to a Premier 1 final against Midleton on Monday week, backboned by Shane Barrett, Padraig Power and Declan Hanlon, who all featured for the U21s.
Coleman will be in action against this Sunday for UCC in the senior championship when they meet Imokilly. The divisional side's captain Seamus Harnedy lined out for St Ita's against Cloughduv, firing 1-13 in a 3-17 to 1-16 defeat.
Joe Ryan pounced for 2-3 for the Mid Cork champions whose rising star Eoghan Clifford will also wear the College colours against Imokilly.
That clash, at 2.30pm, is the first of a senior semi-final double-bill at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, followed by Midleton against Blackrock at 4.15pm.
