Inniscarra 1-13 Killeagh 1-12

AN absolutely terrific county semi-final replay in CIT on Friday night where unfortunately there had to be a loser.

But that’s sport. In a brilliant game that ebbed after flowed after Killeagh pulled back a five-point early deficit, you couldn’t take your eyes off this one for a second.

Inniscarra had the better earlier exchanges and led 1-4 to 0-3 after 18 minutes. Erin Looney was on a lot of ball around the middle. Niamh McCarthy was getting space and with Inniscarra’s work-rate at a premium they had the upper hand. But as in the previous game Killeagh got stronger as the game went on.

Ciara Daly was exceptional at centre-back. Laura Treacy wasn’t far behind and with Chloe Sigerson, Jessica O’Shea and Hannah Looney raising the stakes it all became Killeagh in that second quarter. Laura Treacy blocked down an Inniscarra attack and from it, Chloe Sigerson finished with a fantastic shot to the net on 28 minutes. She struck a free to bring the sides level on 30 and it was 1-7 apiece at the break.

Inniscarra won the midfield battle upon the restart, Niamh Dilworth playing deep a telling factor. Rena Buckley and Aileen Sheehan were prominent as they took a two-point lead.

Treacy played an attacking half-back role and scored two excellent points and we were level again.

It was anyone’s game and the slightest mistake was capitalised by the opposition. Again, Inniscarra led by two. Again, Killeagh drew level. You were afraid to blink.

Two minutes into additional time Inniscarra won a free. It wasn’t the easiest but who else would you want in your side than Niamh Dilworth in moments like that. She nailed it. A further three minutes would keep supporters’ hearts palpitating.

Killeagh had a chance to bring the game to extra time but the free sailed wide and Inniscarra head for their fourth final on the trot.
