Kilshannig 3-16 Kilworth 0-7

KILSHANNIG were worthy winners over Kilworth in the JAFC final at Kildorrery in a game that drew a fine attendance but never lived up to expectations.

The favourites, with Cork senior Killian O'Hanlon in their ranks, lived up to their billing and simply had far too much for a game Kilworth, who remain in the county junior series and are also involved in the PIHC.

From the throw-in Kilshannig won possession and set the tone as Jack Twomey pointed, followed by scores for O'Hanlon and Darragh O'Sullivan. Killian's brother, Cork U20 Eanna O'Hanlon was also in fine form and they used short passing at speed to create chances throughout.

Eoin Carey opened Kilworth's account in the 12th minute and followed up with a 45 but keeper Jamie Sheehan had to be alert to save well from Dermot Twomey.

At the other end, Colm O'Dea made also some very good saves but Kilshanning raised the first green flag in the 24th minute when Killian O'Hanlon and Twomey combined for Jack Kearney: 1-7 to 0-3.

The Kilshanning half-backs were dominant with Colm O'Shea outstanding and it was 1-9 to 0-4 at the interval.

Nathan Byrne pointed for Kilworth on the restart but any hope of a recovery was quickly dashed when Eanna O'Hanlon placed Eoin O'Sullivan for a great goal 2-9 to 0-5.

Kilworth's last score came in the 43rd minute through a Carey free.

Good play by Killian O'Hanlon and Darragh O'Sullivan led to the third goal for by Eanna O'Hanlon.

The Glantane side added five more points by Kieran Twomey, Barry O'Shea, Killian O'Hanlon (2) and Jack Kearney as they emerged very easy winners.
