Eirgrid hosts event on windfarm locations in Aghada until 8pm tonight
The events will provide an opportunity for the public, communities and stakeholders to share their feedback on proposed onshore and offshore station locations, landfall sites and grid connection points.
EirGrid is continuing its public information events across Cork to discuss the development of onshore and offshore electricity grid infrastructure for the south coast of Ireland.
The events will provide an opportunity for the public, communities and stakeholders to share their feedback on proposed onshore and offshore station locations, landfall sites and grid connection points.
A public consultation open day, from 12 noon – 8pm, is taking place today at Aghada Community Centre and there will be another open day in Garryvoe Hotel on Wednesday November 4.
There will also be mobile unit information stands available on October 27 at Garryvoe beach carpark from 10am – 1pm and in Cloyne GAA carpark from 2pm – 5pm.
The public information events are part of EirGrid's Powering Up Offshore – South Coast programme, which aims to build the transmission grid infrastructure required to connect offshore wind generation to the national grid.
Sinéad Dooley, head of public engagement at EirGrid, said she is encouraging people to attend our consultation events in Cork where they can meet the project team, learn more about the proposals and have their say.
“Local knowledge and stakeholder feedback are critical to helping shape the next stage of the project, and we want as many people as possible to get involved in the consultation process."
“This consultation is an important milestone in the development of the programme. The emerging best performing options we are presenting have been informed by extensive technical and environmental studies, as well as engagement with stakeholders, and we now want to hear directly from communities and interested parties on these proposals.”
