Cork singer's new album inspired by great Irish women

Cork singer songwriter Fiona Kennedy is launching a new album which celebrates extraordinary women who have influenced her life and career.

Natural Woman recognises the achievements of women including the late Vicky Phelan and Cork born humanitarian Mary Elmes, alongside female artists who have inspired Fiona throughout her career.

One of the singles on the new album is Travel On, inspired by the courage and legacy of Vicky Phelan.

Ms Kennedy said: “Vicky Phelan’s bravery moved the whole country. Her courage and her refusal to give up, even in the most difficult circumstances, inspired me deeply.

“Travel On is my tribute to her spirit and to every woman who keeps going, no matter what stands in her way.” 

The official album launch of Natural Woman will take place at The Merchant in Cork city on Friday at 8.30pm, where Fiona will perform and share the stories behind the songs and the women who inspired them.

Tickets for the album launch are €20 and include a copy of the CD.

Natural Woman will be available on all major streaming platforms from this Friday.
