Cork city Coffee House Lates back for two nights this week

Independent cafés and restaurants across Cork city will stay open late on Thursday and Friday, hosting a varied programme of events for the third iteration of the annual Coffee House Lates events.

Over the two evenings live music, poetry, markets, and creative experiences will transform participating venues.

There will be events on one or both nights at The Lough Café, Alchemy Coffee Cork, 115 Café, Don Gregorio, Sabor Brazil, SOMA Coffee Company, Moon Child Matcha Bar in Cork Lotus Yoga Studio, Kino Event House, and Bakestone Café.

Launched in October 2024 in response to growing demand for alcohol-free evening activities, the initiative is facilitated by the Cork Business Association (CBA) in partnership with Cork City Council.

Cork City Council’s night-time economy advisor, Fiona Collins, said: “We’re delighted to bring Coffee House Lates back to Cork city for a third year.

“The continued popularity of these events demonstrates a strong appetite for inclusive, alcohol-free evening experiences that allow people to connect, relax, and enjoy the city after dark.

"Coffee House Lates showcases the creativity and warmth of Cork’s café culture while contributing to a more vibrant and diverse night-time economy. 

"We encourage everyone to come along, explore the programme, and support our local coffee houses.”

Clara O’Neil, president of Cork Business Association, said the participating venues had no hesitation in joining up.

"Testament to the success of previous Coffee House Lates and the desire for non-alcohol centred entertainment.

"There are some fantastic events taking place. 

"I hope everyone will come out and join us as we once again evolve Cork after dark.”
