Cork traffic and weather: Misty, foggy, and rainy conditions predicted by Met Éireann

Met Éireann has said it will be cloudy with mist, fog, and patches of drizzle throughout Cork today.

The national forecaster has predicted that scattered showers will develop during the afternoon and evening, with the occasional sunny spell.

Rain will move into west Munster later this evening, with highest temperatures of 17C to 21C..

While rain and drizzle will mostly move eastwards across the province overnight, cloud and patchy rain will linger until morning in Cork, with lows of 12C to 14C.

There will be patches of mist and fog also, in light variable breezes.

Tomorrow will see misty and foggy conditions clear, leaving a dry day with sunny spells.

Highest temperatures of 14C to 17C, in light to moderate northwesterly or variable breezes, are expected.

Tomorrow night will be dry with clear spells at first, but cloud will increase overnight and patches of light rain or drizzle will develop in the west and northwest.

Lowest temperatures of 7C to 11C with a moderate southerly breeze are expected.

Traffic 

Traffic is flowing across most of Cork's main city links this morning, with congestion expected along the N40 and the M28.

Motorists are advised that the M8 northbound will be closed between J7 Cashel and J6 Horse and Jockey, from 8am to 6pm until October 10.

National Outlook 

Thursday will be a breezy day with a fresh and gusty southerly wind.

Most areas will be dry at first with occasional sunshine, but Met Éireann has said there will be patchy rain and drizzle in the west, northwest and along the south coast.

The rain will slowly move eastwards across parts of Ulster, Connacht and Munster during the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C are predicted.

Winds will ease on Thursday night and it'll be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle.

Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 11C to 14C are expected.

Friday morning will be cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle.

This will gradually clear eastwards through the afternoon and evening, giving way to sunshine and showers, mainly in the west and north.

Highest temperatures of 13C to 16C degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds are predicted.

Friday night will see a few showers in the north and west, with otherwise dry conditions and long clear spells.

Lowest temperatures of 7C to 11C with light to moderate southerly winds are expected.

Saturday will see a bright and breezy start, with sunny spells and scattered blustery showers.

Rain is expected to move into the west later on Saturday, moving eastwards across the country on Saturday night, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers on Sunday.

Daytime temperatures over the weekend will reach the mid to high teens.
