Planning permission has been sought for a major redevelopment of the Westlink Service Station in Cork city, including a new self-service launderette at the Pouladuff Road site.
The application was submitted to Cork City Council by Westlink Service Station Ltd in recent weeks.
According to the application, the developer is seeking to demolish and rebuild the filling station on the Pouladuff Road.
The proposed plans would see the demolition of the existing Daybreak shop, filling station canopy, its fuel pumps, and two gas tanks, to make way for the construction of a new facility.
As set out in the planning documents, a new two-storey extension would be built to the rear of the existing commercial building on site, to be used as a new service station comprising a shop outlet, a delicatessen restaurant and seating area, food preparation area, an off-licence, a cold room, toilets, office spaces, staff facilities and storage.
The plans also include provisions for a new self-service launderette on the ground floor of the building, as well as the construction of a new external canopy.
The applicant would then oversee the installation of three new fuel pump islands, and a rollover self-service car-wash machine and associated screen.
Further, they are also seeking to install illuminated fascia signage on the newly-constructed filling station canopy.
The application is currently at the pre-validation phase, with Cork City Council planners expected to make a decision on the development by November 4.
