More than €500,000 worth of platinum was allegedly stolen from Stryker in Cork over a period of more than three years, it is alleged, and a 40-year-old man now appeared at Cork District Court.

Detective Garda David Hickey formally arrested Kamil Zelechowski of The Mews, Elmbury, Carrigtwohill, at Cork District Court and charged him with the single count. After being cautioned in relation to the matter, he made no reply.

The charge states that: “Between January 1 20222 and April 3 2025 at Stryker Neurovascular, Model Farm Road, Cork, he did steal property, to wit, platinum to the value of €522,190, contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences ) Act 2001.” Sergeant John Dineen said the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial by indictment on the charge.

Det Garda Hickey said there was no objection to bail being granted to the accused on conditions agreed with defence solicitor Shane Collins-Daly.

Judge David Waters remanded the defendant on bail on condition that he would surrender his passport and any travel documents and undertake not to apply for any new documents.

The defendant was remanded on bail until October 7 which will give him the opportunity to indicate if he is going to enter a signed plea of guilty or if a book of evidence will be required.
