Cork moviegoers can go to cinema for €4 next weekend
Cork classic 'The Young Offenders' will be re-released on National Cinema Weekend to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
Moviegoers in Cork will be able to see films for as little as €4 next weekend as part of National Cinema Weekend.
Participating cinemas across the country will offer tickets from €4 on September 5 and 6 under the initiative, which is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
Cork venues taking part include Arc Cinema Cork, Omniplex Mahon Point, The Reel Picture in Blackpool and Ballincollig, Triskel Arts Centre, and cinemas in Midleton, Clonakilty, and Bantry.
Previous National Cinema Days were such a huge success in Ireland, with over 200,000 admissions across a single day, that the film industry made the decision to extend the initiative this year to take in a full weekend.

The film’s stars Alex Murphy and Chris Walley said: “We think there’s nothing like the magic of going to the movies.
“The shared communal experience of enjoying films as they were meant to be seen – on the big screen with a captive audience, is one of our favourite things to do.
“We’re really looking forward to celebrating National Cinema Weekend this year by catching as many films as we can, and re-watching some of the great movies we've already enjoyed at the cinema this year.”
Almost every cinema in Ireland will participate, offering a wide variety of new and recent releases as well as additional screenings including sensory, subtitled, and captioned screenings.
Fís Éireann chief executive Désirée Finnegan said: “Screen Ireland is proud to support National Cinema Weekend, which is set to be a fantastic celebration of cinema, in recognition of Irish audiences and their continued support for Irish film on the big screen.
“With such a wide range of films available to choose from as part of the initiative, we hope audiences across the country can find new Irish stories to connect with this year."
Tickets can be purchased online and at the box office.
