Family friendly celebration to take place in Cork city centre marking International Day of Charity

Cork will mark the International Day of Charity for the first time with Cork Communities in Action, a free and family friendly celebration in Bishop Lucey Park next month.

Cork Communities in Action aims to celebrate the people and organisations who create connection, support and a sense of belonging in their communities.

Commencing at 2pm on Saturday, September 5, the event will feature an afternoon of music, creative performances, family activities and opportunities to connect with local charities and community groups.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Across county Cork, more than 1,186 registered charities, alongside thousands of community groups, support people at every stage of their lives. 

“From baby and toddler groups, youth organisations, mental health supports and disability services to Meals on Wheels.

“Cork Communities in Action will showcase the breadth of this work, allowing the public to meet local organisations and discover ways to get involved if they so wish.”
