Tyndall to begin building work at Distillery Fields on city's North Mall next week
The buildings will range in height from four to six storeys and will include laboratories, offices, catering, and stores.
UCC plans to demolish the former Irish Distilleries bottling plant to build a new 16,135sq m facility, from four storeys at the east to six storeys at the west. This will comprise a mix of research laboratories, seminar rooms, offices, exhibition space and a café.
The Tyndall National Institute is a partnership between UCC, Science Foundation Ireland, and the Department of Enterprise.Its areas of research include compound semiconductors, wafer-scale and chip technologies, health and wellbeing, communications, packaging and integration, environmental sensing and energy, and compound semiconductors.
