Swim for Gaza to take place on Sunday at Fountainstown beach

The annual Cork Swim for Gaza fundraiser takes place this Sunday, August 16, at Fountainstown beach at 3pm.

All proceeds from the event will be going towards to the Swimming Academy of Gaza, with all welcome to attend on the day.

The Swim for Gaza campaign sees people in cities around the world taking part in a swimming campaign to show solidarity and to help fund free swimming lessons for children in Gaza.

This includes eight lessons in pools on the beach, where children can build their confidence and learn vital skills, followed by a final two lessons in the open sea.

An event spokesperson said: “With your support, each child can gain a skill they will carry with them for a lifetime.

“They will learn how to be safe in the water and hopefully experience the freedom and joy that swimming can bring.”
