Douglas Comhaltas members medal at Munster Fleadh Cheoil

A large contingent from Comhaltas na Dúglaise attended the Munster Fleadh Cheoil which was held in Lismore, Co Waterford recently.

All who attended expressed the view that the event was extremely well organised.

The branch Céilí Band ‘Drombeg’ was placed second out of eight in the hotly-contested senior Céilí Band competition and are heading for the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Belfast.

Others who qualified for the all-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil were Tim O’Sullivan first in lilting and second place in whistling and Roisín Breathnach in Comhrá Gaeilge.

Siún Morrissey was placed third in tin whistle slow airs 15–18 and John Woods was placed third in whistling U12.

Other solo competitors and dancers performed extremely well but were not placed this time around.

The branch is at present enrolling new members and registering members for classes for the upcoming season which commences in Gaelscoil na Dúglaise on Wednesday, September 16.
