Cork’s Everyman theatre will next month host the the Irish Premiere of Judy – End of the Rainbow, featuring West End star Anna Jane Casey in the title role.
Set in the final months of Hollywood legend Judy Garland’s life, the production follows the star as she struggles to complete a run of concerts at the Talk of the Town in London.
Directed by Conor Hanratty, the show has been performed in more than 24 countries and received three Tony Award nominations and four Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Play.
It also later inspired the 2020 Oscar-winning film, Judy.
The role of Judy will be taken on by Ms Casey, whose credits on stage include West Side Story, Chicago, Cats, and the iconic Sybil in Fawlty Towers at the Apollo Theatre.
Combining humour, heartbreak, and some of Garland’s most beloved songs, Judy – End of the Rainbow has been described as a compelling portrait of a remarkable artist.
It runs from August 27 to September 5, tickets from https://everymancork.com.
