MTU renews sponsorship of Munster's first LGBTQ+ GAA club

Munster Technological University (MTU) has renewed its sponsorship of Na Laochra Aeracha, Munster’s first and only LGBTQ+ GAA club.

Over the last year, the club has benefited from access to MTU’s sporting facilities and financial support.

Dr Pio Fenton, vice president people & culture at MTU, said: “Following a successful first year of partnership, we are proud to continue our sponsorship of Na Laochra Aeracha into the 2026/2027 sporting season.

“This ongoing collaboration reflects MTU’s commitment to inclusion and to supporting our staff, students, and the wider community through a strong sense of pride, belonging, and participation.”

Erin O’Donovan, secretary of Na Laochra Aeracha, said: “The club has grown from strength to strength, and we have had more than 20 new members join the club so far this year.

“It was the first year that the men competed in the Seandún League in Division Four, and they are looking forward to the Junior C championship which starts at the end of this month.

“We had 21 players last week for a challenge match, a great number for us.”
