Cork comedian to headline ‘Jokes for Stroke’ charity night

Comedian Chris Kent with Cork Stroke Support member Derry O'Callaghan at Cork Stroke Support’s office in Blackrock ahead of the Jokes For Stroke event this Thursday, May 28th.

Cork comedian Chris Kent will be headlining a comedy night in aid of Cork Stroke Support taking place at the Everyman Theatre on Thursday evening.

Jokes for Stroke will see a host of comedians come together to raise funds for the charity that offers supports to stroke survivors and their families.

The show’s line-up will also include the likes of Ross Browne, Andrew Ryan, and Sinéad Quinlan.

With the target to raise €20,000 on the night, all donations are going towards the day-to-day operational costs of the Cork Stroke Support centre in Blackrock.

All the comedians on the bill and the technical crew have also agreed to waive their fee to ensure that maximum funds are raised.

Jokes for Stroke commenced in 2023, with Cork Stroke Support reaching out to Chris Kent to host the event.

He has hosted it every year, with donations raised helping to develop services at the centre that houses the only gym dedicated to stroke survivors in Munster.

Mr Kent said that Cork Stroke Support provides a vital service to people, and “fundraising for that is crucially important”.

“It is a great initiative and, personally, it is very rewarding bringing together some of Ireland’s best comedians while raising funds that go directly to stroke survivors.”

Feena McGrath, centre manager for Cork Stroke Support, said: “Humour and being able to have a laugh is always the best medicine. We can’t thank Chris enough for his involvement and support each year.”

A limited number of tickets are available at www.everymancork.com priced at €31.
